All about SAHPRA
SAHPRA (South African Health Products Regulatory Authority) regulates all lasers in South Africa.
The chances are that if you as a client are considering any laser treatments, the machine used on you will be classified as a class 3 or 4.
For eg Pico, carbon, nd yags are class 4 lasers and it is a legal requirement that each machine be registered with them.
In addition each machine must have an assigned Laser Safety Officer (LSO).
This is a lot to take in when all you want is your unwanted hair removed or acne sorted or tattoo removed etc.
In a world of fakes, knock offs and shortcuts, be aware that most salons do not meet these safety requirements. Just be sure to go to a place where the machines have met all the legal requirements.
